Xinfeng Wang | Wild Weeds & Gentle Breezes

Ceramicist & Lacquer Artist

Born in 2001 in Huludao, Liaoning, Xinfeng Wang graduated from the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts in 2023. Drawn by the ancient "porcelain capital," she established her independent studio in Jingdezhen in 2024, dedicating her life to the rhythmic dialogue between clay and nature.

The Philosophy: Strength in the Overlooked

Xinfeng’s creative journey is a quiet observation of the "unnoticed." Since her university days, she has been captivated by the untamed vitality of nature—specifically the wildflowers and weeds that thrive in the most inconspicuous corners of the world.

"Plants grant me a quiet, persistent strength," Xinfeng reflects. "In the places most people overlook, there is a special kind of existence. I hope my 'Wildflower & Weed' series brings that same warmth and grounded power into your daily life."

Through her work, she translates the resilient spirit of the wild into tactile objects, inviting us to slow down and find beauty in the humble and the raw.

The Craft: Nature’s Narrative in Clay

Xinfeng’s artistic language spans ceramics, traditional lacquer (Da Qi), and painting. Her style is a harmonious blend of primitive texture and contemporary lightness.

  • The Poetry of the Wild: Her signature hand-painted motifs—delicate petals, swaying leaves, and spindly stems—feel as if they are still breathing. The series "Spring Drizzle, Soft Breeze" captures the fleeting tenderness of a rainy spring day through charcoal-etched lines and speckled, stone-like glazes.

  • Organic Imbalance: Eschewing industrial perfection, Xinfeng embraces the organic irregularity of hand-building. Her vessels often mimic the soft curve of a bloom or the weathered edge of a stone, retaining the warmth of the maker's touch.

  • A Sanctuary for the Soul: Each piece is designed to be a "beautiful and easy" presence in the home. Whether holding a handful of freshly picked berries or a single wild sprig, her ceramics serve as a bridge between the wild landscape and the intimate domestic space.
