Story

The inspiration for this piece stems from a profound period of internal collapse and reconstruction within the artist’s inner order. In Blue Lotus I, Xianyue Lee employs clashing geometric forms and abrupt colors to mirror the irreconcilable contradictions and "noise" of life. Yet, amidst this visual upheaval, a purple lotus stands tall and defiant at the heart of the canvas. It remains unshaken by the surrounding chaos—offering no explanation, making no compromises.

It is a reflection of a specific state of mind: the noisier the external world becomes, the more vital it is to preserve one's own shape and color. Here, abstract disorder is not a loss of control, but a deliberate battlefield staged for the lotus to claim its ground.

Craftsmanship:

  • Medium: High-temperature color glaze on ceramic panel.
  • The Alchemy of Fire: Fired at 1300°C, this piece is created solely through the natural transformation of mineral glazes.
  • Pure Expression: Unlike traditional ceramics, Lee uses no additional pigments or painting layers. The entire scene emerges from the artist’s mastery of Yaobian (kiln transformation) a delicate balance between human control and the soul of the fire.

Key Features & Originality:

  • This is not a print or mass-produced craft, but a 1/1 original co-created by fire and glaze.

  • You possess a unique existence born from the kiln—an artwork that will never appear exactly the same way again in this world.
  • Signed by the artist.

Installation:
Due to the weight of the ceramic panel, this piece should be leaned against a wall or hung using professional picture rails or heavy-duty hooks. Adhesive strips or "no-drill" stickers are not recommended.

Care:

  • Place on a stable surface or ensure secure hanging.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations.
