The Chubby Bird series brings together playful bird silhouettes and botanical forms against a softly speckled stoneware surface. Bold black brushwork gives each composition a distinctive character, while the irregular edges and earthy textures preserve the warmth of handmade ceramics.

Created by ceramic artist Xinfeng Wang, this hand-painted plate adds a touch of whimsy to everyday table settings. Display it on a shelf, style it with your favorite ceramics, or bring it to the table for small bites and treats.

Dimensions

16 cm diameter / 6.3 in

Materials

Hand-thrown and hand-pinched stoneware, decorated with underglaze or in-glaze techniques. Fired at high temperatures (1220–1280°C) for durability and a unique rustic texture.

Each piece is shaped and painted entirely by hand. Subtle variations in brushstrokes, glaze tones, and pattern placement are a natural part of the process, making every piece truly one of a kind.

Time to make

15–20 days

Care

Not microwave or oven safe. Hand wash gently with mild soap. Due to the porous nature of stoneware, temporary "rain-leak" spots may appear when wet but will vanish once dry. For best results, soak in rice water overnight before first use to season the clay.
