Story

This piece is a magnificent "accident" gifted by the kiln's fire. Blue, cyan, green, and yellow interweave and flow under extreme heat, as if the flame itself has gained life, or like the faint shimmer of coral in the deep sea.

The forms of the lotus leaves are abstracted into burning blocks of color, while the blossoms remain faint and flickering, as if born within the light and heat. On the white "water" surface, the kiln transformation has precipitated a luster akin to shells and mica—stardust scattered across the panel. Xianyue Lee sought to record not the concrete form of the lotus, but the way it "burns" within her mind—intense, translucent, and filled with unrepeatable chance. It is a poem of glaze, and a poem of fire.

Craftsmanship:

  • Medium: High-temperature color glaze on ceramic panel.
  • The Alchemy of Fire: Fired at 1300°C, this piece is created solely through the natural transformation of mineral glazes.
  • Pure Expression: Unlike traditional ceramics, Lee uses no additional pigments or painting layers. The entire scene emerges from the artist’s mastery of Yaobian (kiln transformation) a delicate balance between human control and the soul of the fire.

Key Features & Originality:

  • This is not a print or mass-produced craft, but a 1/1 original co-created by fire and glaze.
  • Under extreme heat, the minerals flow and crystallize into intricate textures that are impossible to replicate or imitate.
  • You possess a unique existence born from the kiln—an artwork that will never appear exactly the same way again in this world.
  • Signed by the artist.

Installation:
Due to the weight of the ceramic panel, this piece should be leaned against a wall or hung using professional picture rails or heavy-duty hooks. Adhesive strips or "no-drill" stickers are not recommended.

Care:

  • Place on a stable surface or ensure secure hanging.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations.
