During a journey through the mountains, Xiye Wu encountered a tall rhododendron standing quietly beside a pine tree. Its branches intertwined with other plants, pale blossoms emerging through the drifting mist. There was a quiet strength in the tree, deeply rooted in the earth and intimately connected with the life around it.

It reminded Xiye of Yushi Huang, the Rain Master from Heaven Official’s Blessing, whose strength lies in humility, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to the lives sustained by the land. She moves through the world with a calm and steady heart, finding meaning in the humble work of nurturing life, guided by what she believes to be right.

In this painting, the rhododendron becomes a portrait of that same spirit: gentle yet resilient, grounded yet free, quietly flourishing whether or not anyone is there to witness it.
