The Will of Glaze: Dancing with Uncertainty
Xianyue Lee is a contemporary ceramic artist based in Jingdezhen. She holds a Master’s degree from the prestigious Jingdezhen Ceramic University, where she developed her profound expertise in the alchemy of fire and clay.
Her work focuses on high-temperature color glazes, a medium she uses to explore the modern expression of Oriental imagery. In the contemporary art context, Lee’s practice is a soulful dialogue with materials, internalizing the spirit of traditional Chinese Xieyi (freehand brushwork) to capture a delicate balance between "certainty and uncertainty."

The Art of "Pure Glaze": Mastery Beyond Decoration
What sets Xianyue Lee’s work apart is her exclusive and rigorous process. Unlike many ceramic artists who layer underglaze or overglaze pigments to achieve detail, Lee relies solely on high-temperature color glazes to manifest her visions.
This "one-step" approach is a supreme test of the creator’s control and their understanding of Yaobian (kiln transformation). Without the aid of additional painting layers, she harnesses the natural flow and chemical reactions of the glazes to form organic landscapes, resulting in pieces that are both "heavenly-crafted" and meticulously envisioned.

Philosophy & Recognition
Lee’s creations are the physical manifestation of "The Will of Glaze." By embracing the unpredictable nature of the firing process, she finds a unique visual language that speaks of movement, depth, and the raw beauty of the earth.
Her talent has been recognized in numerous professional competitions. Her works have been selected for prestigious exhibitions including the 2025 Contemporary Ceramic Art Exhibition and the "Beauty in the Minute" Exhibition. Following her acclaimed showcase "The Will of Glaze: Dodecahedron," her pieces have become highly sought after by discerning private collectors worldwide.
