High-Temperature Glaze Ceramic Painting –Lotus in the Breeze II (Original 1/1)
Story
This piece is a magnificent "accident" gifted by the kiln's fire. Blue, cyan, green, and yellow interweave and flow under extreme heat, as if the flame itself has gained life, or like the faint shimmer of coral in the deep sea.
The forms of the lotus leaves are abstracted into burning blocks of color, while the blossoms remain faint and flickering, as if born within the light and heat. On the white "water" surface, the kiln transformation has precipitated a luster akin to shells and mica—stardust scattered across the panel. Xianyue Lee sought to record not the concrete form of the lotus, but the way it "burns" within her mind—intense, translucent, and filled with unrepeatable chance. It is a poem of glaze, and a poem of fire.
