Part of the "Watering Flowers" series, this piece captures the resilient energy of wildflowers on a rainy day. Artist Xinfeng Wang seeks to mirror the plants' quiet strength—feeling the wind, rain, and light in a state of pure calm. By using simple black outlines instead of color, she invites us to focus on the wildflowers' vibrant, stretching forms, celebrating their raw vitality and the peaceful rhythm of nature.

Dimensions

17 × 3 cm (approx. 6.7 × 1.2 in)

Materials

Hand-thrown and hand-pinched stoneware, decorated with underglaze or in-glaze techniques. Fired at high temperatures (1220–1280°C) for durability and a unique rustic texture.

Each plate is shaped and painted entirely by hand. Subtle variations in brushstroke, glaze tone, and pattern placement are a natural result of the process—making every piece uniquely its own.

Time to make

15–20 days

Care

Not microwave or oven safe. Hand wash gently with mild soap. Due to the porous nature of stoneware, temporary "rain-leak" spots may appear when wet but will vanish once dry. For best results, soak in rice water overnight before first use to season the clay.
